Trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming therapy in Phoenix, AZ for individuals and couples
About Elena
Hi, I’m Elena Stamerra, therapist and founder of Ease Counseling. Welcome! To make this space clear and neurodivergent-friendly, here’s a brief rundown about me and the work I do:
I see in-person clients on Saturdays at 4501 North 22nd St, Suite 220, Phoenix, AZ 85016, and I offer virtual appointments on Thursdays.
The best way to reach me is via email at elena@easecounselingservices.com
I offer a free 15-minute consultation call before intake. It’s a chance for you to see how it feels to talk with me and decide whether you’d like to move forward with scheduling. Email me to set one up!
My standard session rate is $150, and I offer a tiered sliding scale based on financial need. I do not take insurance, though I can provide superbills for potential Out-of-Network reimbursement. You can find more information about sliding scale qualifications under the “Rates” tab on my website.
I bring a warm, informal style to therapy and prioritize building a deep understanding of each client.
My goal is to help you navigate life in a way that feels manageable, authentic, and aligned with who you are.
My work blends mind-focused and nervous system–focused approaches, including EMDR, IFS, ACT, EFT, and Polyvagal therapy. You can find more details about each modality under the “About” tab on my website.
Your Questions, Answered
What happens during the first session or intake?
1
During your first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, current challenges, and how you’d like therapy to feel. The intake is conversational and moves at your pace . You won’t be expected to share anything before you’re ready. I’ll check in throughout to make sure what we’re discussing feels okay and manageable. The goal is for you to feel safe and comfortable as we begin.
How do I know if we’re a good fit?

Therapy is a collaborative process, and part of my role is checking in with you throughout to see how things are going and if any adjustments are needed. The goal is to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and feedback. A free 15-minute consultation is a great place to start and see how it feels to chat with me.
I’ve never been to therapy before — What should I expect?

Therapy is a space for you to explore your thoughts and experiences in a way that feels comfortable. During the first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and talking about what you’d like to get out of therapy. We’ll also discuss how we’ll work toward those goals, including which approaches or tools might be most helpful. After that, sessions focus on reaching your goals, addressing what comes up for you, offering support, and identifying ways to apply what you’re learning throughout the week. You can share as much or as little as you like, and we’ll move at a speed that feels right for you.
How do I know if I’m ready for therapy?

Therapy can help at any stage, even if you feel unsure or hesitant about starting. There’s no perfect moment when someone is “ready.” We’ll take a collaborative approach, exploring your hesitation and moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
